Programme Aim
The Level 3 First Line Management Programme is designed to help maximise the potential of practicing and aspiring managers through the application and development of management and leadership skills and knowledge. It is intended to be both practical and interactive in its approach to learning and assessment, and encourages learners to apply their achievements within the workplace.
By the end of the programme learners will have developed a wide range of management competencies that will enable them to operate effectively within the workplace as First Line Managers.
Please note that WMQC only deliver the suite of Level 3 CMI First Line Management Qualifications in an in-company programme approach.
Qualification Framework
The unitised framework of the qualification assigns credits to each of the individual unit themes. Learners will develop essential skills and knowledge in key management and leadership themes including; personal development as a first line manager, resource planning, meeting stakeholder needs, managing and communicating information, developing individuals and teams, recruitment and selection, maintaining quality standards, improving team performance, management communication and being a leader.
- Award in First Line Management
To achieve the Chartered Management Institute Award in First Line Management, candidates must complete at least one unit with a minimum value of 6 credits - Certificate in First Line Management
To achieve the Chartered Management Institute Certificate in First Line Management, candidates must complete any combination of units to a minimum total of 13 credits - Diploma in First Line Management
To achieve the Chartered Management Institute Diploma in First Line Management, candidates must complete five mandatory units plus at least two other units to a minimum total of 42 credits

The Learner
The suite of Level 3 qualifications in First Line Management are designed to meet the needs of supervisors, first line managers and aspiring future managers who wish to build on and develop their existing management and leadership skills and knowledge.
The programme will help maximise potential by encouraging development of management and leadership skills and knowledge that will aid the learner throughout their career in management.

The Level 3 First Line Management qualification offers a highly flexible approach to learning, and the freedom to select from a broad range of management and leadership themes. This allows you to tailor the qualification to suit the needs and priorities of your organisation and your managers.
Programme delivery
Each unit of the First Line Management qualification consists of a full day workshop and subsequent post-workshop activity designed to encourage transfer of learning to the working environment. The duration of the programme is dependent upon the level of qualification that the learner aspires to.
Typically each unit of the programme will be delivered within a one monthly period, subsequently an Award, Certificate and Diploma in First Line Management will be achieved over a 1 month, 2 month and 7 month period, respectively.
In company programmes
Working in partnership with your organisation, WMQC’s team of experienced advisors can discuss the content and structure of the programme offering clear and constructive advice.
The flexible learning structure of the Level 3 First Line Management qualifications allow for you to choose which units of the programme best align to the competencies required of your managers and the objectives of your business. Furthermore the programme can be delivered to practicing and aspiring managers ‘in house’, and phased around periods that are most suitable to your business activity.
